Sarah
Learning Specialist • Therapeutic Yoga Teacher

Sarah, a Registered Yoga Teacher and certified Children’s Yoga Instructor, has been incorporating children's yoga and mindfulness practices into her classroom for over 4 years. After receiving her yoga teacher training in Hoi An, Vietnam, she decided to dedicate more of her energy to helping children reach their full potential through yoga and mindfulness. Through working with children of all ages (from preschool to undergraduate) and understanding their different needs, Sarah teaches yoga to help relax, focus, energized, and encourage these young learners. She believes one of the most important aspects of being a teacher is helping the child to believe in themselves, and fully understands and encourages the fact that everyone has their own special style to effectively relax, focus, and learn. Sarah incorporate fun asanas that engage the children to exercise their bodies, use their imaginations, and help center and quiet their thoughts. Breathing exercises help children unlock the benefits of controlled, mindful breathing, and can be practiced for the rest of their lives. Partner poses, group poses, games, and singing bring excitement and collaboration into the class. Mindfulness exercises, meditation, and savasana help encourage relaxation and reflection.

Loretta LEARNING SPECIALIST

Loretta
LEARNING SPECIALIST

Loretta believes that exploring the minds of students is a gift. She is grateful to be in a field where she can be of service to students who need support. Loretta's job as a tutor is to connect with each mind and balance the flow between the right and left side of the brain. Throughout her numerous years of teaching and tutoring, Loretta has found that students with a Learning Disability, an attention deficit disorder or students who are troubled with stress or anxiety are not able to process information in a balanced manner. Her goal is to teach these students which side of the brain they favor and as a result find the best way to implement the weakness from the other side. Loretta believes that teaching mindfulness helps students check in with their inner and outer world. They learn how their brain works and how their thoughts and feelings regulate their brain's response to daily situations. Loretta earned a B.A. in Sociology from Long Island University and a M.A. in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from New York University.
