What We Do
Bodymind Learning is a provider of specialized educational services for youth and teens. We offer mindfulness-based private tutoring and yoga for individuals and small groups. At Bodymind Learning we believe that every young person can benefit from learning and practicing mindfulness with a kind and caring adult. It is our goal to uncover a love for learning while nurturing self-awareness, positivity, and holistic wellness. We specialize in helping children reach their potential through skill and confidence building. Each individual brings gifts and encounters challenges as they navigate life. Our ultimate goal is for students to develop effective strategies that will support their learning and social-emotional development throughout life.
Who We Serve
Our students have numerous gifts, in addition to social-emotional and academic challenges. Some of these challenges are attention difficulty, including ADHD/ADD; learning disorders, including Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Language Processing Disorder (LPD) and Non-verbal Learning Disabilities (NVLD); weaknesses in executive function and memory; sensory processing difficulty, anxiety and school-related stress, Asperger Syndrome and high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); and Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder (SCD). Typically-developing students also benefit from our holistic approach. We serve families with children in elementary through high school.
Why We Practice
A growing body of scientific research shows the positive effects of mindfulness exercises on mental health and well-being. Mindfulness is widely considered to be an effective support for students with learning differences, attention difficulty (including ADHD/ADD), and mental health concerns, such as anxiety. Practicing mindfulness has been shown to improve attention and reduce stress, as well as increase one’s ability to regulate emotions. Mindful awareness helps students with their self regulation, planning, and organizational skills. It promotes students’ cognitive and academic growth by helping them learn to prioritize and follow-through with challenging tasks.
